On February 21, 2019, in the Marinkino village in the Kirzhachsky district of the Vladimir region, a solemn opening ceremony of the monument to Vitaly Churkin was held. The event was held in the small homeland of an outstanding Russian diplomat.
The Serbian sculptor Dragan Radenovic became the author of the bronze monument in the “expressive modeling” style.
Vitaly Churkin served as ambassador to Chile, Belgium and Canada, Russia's permanent representative to NATO and the Western European Union, deputy foreign minister of Russia. From April 8, 2006, he held the post of Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN in New York.
The opening ceremony of the monument was attended by Serbian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Slovenko Terzich, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, a delegation of institutions and organizations, including a delegation of the Russian New University (RosNOU).
