On 22–23 May, 2017 Havana (Cuba) hosted Rectors’ Forum of Russian and Cuban Universities. Heads of 16 Russian and 24 Cuban higher educational institutions discussed cooperation prospects in the sphere of education and science. Russian New University (RosNOU) was represented at the Forum by the Rector Vladimir A. Zernov.
Among important issues discussed at the Forum was participation of Cuban colleagues in Moscow International University Rating. President of the Russian Union of Rectors, Rector of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Victor A. Sadovnichy pointed out that today higher educational institutions of Cuba are serious competitors for universities of other countries.
The participants adopted a resolution on extending of scientific and technical cooperation, boosting of educational and scientific exchanges, including with the use of cutting-edge information technologies, and also on founding of the Association of Higher Educational Institutions of Russia and Cuba.
The participants in the Forum expressed their hope for deepening Russia-Cuba humanitarian relations and agreed upon holding the next Rectors’ Forum of Russian & Cuban Universities in Moscow in the autumn of 2018 during the Moscow Science Festival in which Cuban representatives will take part for the first time.
