On September 9, 2019, the Round University Ranking (RUR) rating agency presented the first Russian Universities Ranking. 74 universities from 31 regions of the Russian Federation were included in the ranking. Moscow State University took the first place, the National Research Nuclear University MAPhI – the second place, the Tomsk State University – the third one. The leader among the cities was Moscow, represented in the Russian Universities Ranking by 20 universities. In second place was St. Petersburg (6 universities), the third place was shared by Ufa and Kazan (4 universities each).
The Russian New University (RosNOU) took 53rd place and entered the Bronze League of RUR Ranking. The level of teaching at RosNOU (Teaching Ranking) was mostly valued by researchers – 28th place among Russian universities.
Round University Ranking (RUR) is an international university ranking published by the RUR rating agency in conjunction with Clarivate Analytics. The rating evaluates the activities of 1100 leading universities from 86 countries over 10 years (2010–2019) using 20 indicators that measure 4 areas of university activity: the quality of teaching, the quality of research, the level of internationalization and the level of financial stability.
