On July 19, 2019, a projects presentation of students from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) took place in the Russian New University (RosNOU). Students from Hong Kong were the participants of 5 weeks research internship program of PolyU and RosNOU.
“The internship project of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University has existed for 15 years and is being implemented in a large number of countries,” – said Natalia G. Pecheritsa, Director of the RosNOU Asia-Pacific Region Center. – “Now the Russian New University is the only university that represents Russia in this project. The number of interns of the international exchange of working practices of students RosNOU – PolyU increases every year, we started with two people, now they are 26. This shows that the interest of students from Hong Kong to Russia is growing.”
The projects were represented by six students. Students Lee Kam Man and Lai Sze Man presented a project dedicated to analyzing university rankings and developing strategies for entering international rankings. The students compared the rating methodology, identified the specifics of each of them, reviewed attitudes to ratings in a professional environment, and analyzed the existing RosNOU strategy for entering the ratings. According to Lee Kam Man and Lai Sze Man, RosNOU should open more technical areas, provide more learning opportunities in English, develop social networks, including in foreign languages as well as on specialized platforms that are common in specific countries (for example, WeChat and Weibo for China).
Students Shan Ping Wai, Lau Hon Yu, Chan Wing Sum and Kung Wai Ho presented the project “Developing a Strategy for Entering the Global Market for Russian Spirulina”. The project was carried out on the basis of RosNOU by order of the K. A. Timiryazev Institute of Plant Physiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
