On June 10, 2019, Russia's ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova presented the annual report on her activities for 2018 to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The report mentions the interregional project “School of Human Rights Defenders: Learn and Act” developed by the Russian New University (RosNOU).
“A total of 57 regional sites were created in 12 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, where the project presentations, contact and gaming platform events took place. More than 4,300 people took part in the project, 2,412 participants of interactive educational and educational activities were among them. Within the framework of the project, an informational Internet portal has been created, and mobile applications have been developed for the project participants,” – stated in the document.
According to the Ombudsman, the system of educating young human rights defenders is especially important today for the development of civil society and the effective development of public human rights institutions.
In 2019, the number of project participants increased and amounted to more than 13,000 participants.
